British Ford Fiesta Championship

The British Ford Fiesta Championship 2009
The Ford Fiesta Championship started in 1997 as a Club Championship, having been a Ford manufacturer series in the T.O.C.A. package of racing The first year past with good average grids being seen, and successive seasons seeing the numbers grow. The Fiesta Car runs to strict Group N format, which means that the emphasis is squarely on the driver`s ability. With the introduction of a new Fiesta model, it was felt that sufficient support would guarantee the future of the many Ford |Fiesta Si (130bhp) saloon cars that abound the series. When the Fiesta Zetec 1400 also joined the championship the grids grew. 2008 saw that increase continue as the current model Fiesta ST became eligable conforming to group N build specification and these reglulations. The excellent Dunlop slicks are used as the control tyre for the Championship. The Championship Regulations are very comprehensive and there is thorough scrutineering. The 2009 season got off to a great start at Silverstone with a 32 car Grid!!!
In 2009 Hoodracing will be contesting Class C. This is for the Fiesta ST class with no modifications allowed to the engines which means factory power of 150 bhp These cars, however, must meet a minimum weight restriction of 1100 kgs (including driver)
.
New Fiesta ST 150 for 2009 season.
News extract from Team Hood  - April/May 2009
Our search for a main sponsor for the 2009 season seems to be resolved. We have received a most generous offer of support from The John Harrison Group of Lowdham. Harrisons have had a succesful Peugeot dealership for many years and have recently expanded to include a Ford dealership. This is obviously great news and we are most grateful to Harrisons for their support. There will be more about our involvement in publicity and marketing as time goes by.

Driver:Graham Field, who lives in Southwell with his Wife and 5 children and spends his working hours at an Estate Agency in Hucknall, Nottingham. Outside working hours he enjoys martial arts, motor sport in general and acts as unpaid taxi driver to his family.

Graham began racing in 2003 and within a year had achieved the very high standards required by Silverstone Race Circuit to be accepted as one of their instructors. Graham is available for private and corporate driver training at Silverstone and also at a number of other circuits including; Prestwold Hall, Mallory Park, Donnington Park and Rokingham, etc.

Having spent three years racing in the Ford X R Challenge he moved to the Ford Saloon Car Championship in 2006, ending the season as Class E Champion and in third place in the overall Championship. Having moved up to Class C for the 2007 season Graham Finished a credible 4th in Class and 11th overall, a position which would have been even better with improved reliability.
